Dear 8th grade parents/guardians,
This is an exciting time for our 8th graders as they begin preparing for high school and exploring their future career interests!
On Monday, November 2nd, 8th graders will be called down to the auditorium during 8th period to complete their four-year plans in Skyward. In preparation, please review the attached PowerPoint presentation and the Endorsement/Program of Study information with your child.

These resources will help students explore their interests, learn about available programs, and begin thinking about the career path they may want to pursue.
Once your child completes their four-year plan in Skyward, please save the plan but do not submit.
All four-year plans are due by November 20, 2026.
Thank you for your support and partnership as we help our students prepare for a successful transition to high school!
Best regards,
Ms. Hollis - 8th Grade Counselor

Due to the ongoing water issue at our campus, in the best interests of our students and staff, we must close the campus for the remainder of the day. Unfortunately after trying their very best, the District staff and contractor were not able to make the repair work.
Parents of car riders may come to the school to pick up their children. SBISD buses will transport students home through their usual bus routes and stops.
Any students who are unable to be safely picked up or met at the bus stop will remain at Meadow Wood Elementary next door under SFMS staff supervision. Students may be picked up there, and any students remaining at Meadow Wood at the end of the day will be brought home by SBISD Transportation.
We understand that an unexpected change to the school day can be challenging for families, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as this issue is addressed. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority.
Thank you for your understanding and support of our SFMS community.
Thank you,
Roy Moore, Principal SFMS
Kayman McIver, Director SBAI
Safety and security are our top priorities.
To help ensure our central athletic facilities remain safe and welcoming places for students, families and fans, effective immediately, SBISD will implement a clear bag policy for all sporting events at Tully Stadium, Don Coleman Coliseum, Grob Stadium and the Natatorium.
Fans may bring clear bags of any size. Purses, backpacks and other non-clear bags will not be permitted.

Additionally, party buses may not bring students to games at SBISD central athletic facilities, and outside food and beverages are not allowed at any sporting events at Tully Stadium, Don Coleman Coliseum or Grob Stadium.

This morning, our campus is without water due to a valve issue leaving our restrooms as a challenge at this time.
Our facilities team is working to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible. However, if the valve issue cannot be completed in the next 30 -45 minutes, we will need to make the call about continuing the school day.
We will keep you updated and thank you for your understanding,
Roy Moore

Reading Buddies Begin Another Year of Supporting SBISD Students
SBISD's Reading Buddies are back for another year, bringing community volunteers and second-grade students together to strengthen literacy skills and build meaningful relationships.
Since 2019, Reading Buddies has connected volunteers with students for 30 minutes of reading each week, providing encouragement, consistent support and opportunities to grow as readers.
The program's impact was highlighted in the 2026 Education Scorecard, a research project involving Harvard University, Stanford University and Dartmouth College, which reported:
88% of participating students showed gains in oral reading fluency.
More than 60% of the 340 volunteers counted had served for at least two years.
“We're excited to see so many community members in our schools helping students build their reading skills and showing them that their community cares about their success,” said Christopher Marroquin, Director of Community Engagement.
Thank you to our Reading Buddies for showing up each week, building connections and supporting SBISD's literacy priority and T-2-4 vision for Every Child!
