Selection as a member of the National Junior Honor Society is the pinnacle of achievement in middle school. This honor is recognized throughout the nation as a commitment to continued excellence on the part of the new member. Selection to NJHS is a privilege, not a right. It is based on five areas in the student’s life: scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character.
The National Junior Honor Society of Spring Forest Middle School meets once a month during lunch and every day during activity period. NJHS members participate in many activities, including painting the Bobcat paws on the circular drive, adopting needy families for the holidays, and hosting teacher appreciation breakfasts and luncheons. Along with Student Council we host events such as the Veteran's Day assembly. We assist area elementary shcools by volunteering for school carnivals and math nights.
Members of NJHS are committed to holding themselves to high standards academically and to setting an example in the classrooms with good conduct.
Applications for 7th graders are available in April each year. Students must have an overall average of 85 in each class during 6th and 7th grade and no more than 3 N's in conduct during their 6th and 7th grade years. ISS assignment could prevent and result in an adverse admissions decision. Students who have had ISS will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Induction ceremonies take place for 7th graders in May.
Members will be expected to do 10 service hours per semester in 8th grade, maintain all their grades above 80, not have any N's or U's in conduct and participate in NJHS activities.
