 Notes from the Nurse

Judy Grisell M.S.,R.N.
Arminta Diaz, Nurse Assistant

This year we have been working hard to get all the new immunization requirements for 7th graders up to date.  "Thank you" to all parents who sent us their immunizations over the summer or brought them to BOBCAT CAMP before school started.  We are now focused on reviewing emergency cards and contacting parents if we have questions about information noted on the back of the ER card.  Students needing an inhaler during the school day must have physician documentation in the clinic.  If you need additional information please contact us at ext 4625

Screening of students for vision, hearing, scoliosis, BMI and diabetes type 2 will begin in October. Students who do not pass the screening will have referrals mailed home. Please send physician follow up reports to us ASAP. If your child was screened over the summer a copy of the physician report is acceptable.

The school is no longer accepting used uniform items. We now refer all families in need to MEMORIAL ASSISTANCE MINISTRIES (MAMS). MAMS accepts gently used uniforms as well as many other household items our families can use. They are a huge resource for our community and welcome all offerings and volunteers.

Our focus this year is to help students better understand the concept of self responsibility for health and wellness. We will be working with some of our student clubs/organizations to help spread the word about good health hygiene, good nutrition and prevention of obesity related issues.

Please feel free to call us during school hours with questions or concerns. Our direct line is 713-251-4625.
