ÂBeginning Orchestra is open to all students with little or no previous experience playing a string instrument. Instruction is provided on violin, viola, cello, and bass.  Emphasis is placed on learning the fundamentals of playing the instrument and performing many different types of music.ÂStudents will participate in at least two public concerts during the year, which may require extra rehearsal after school.
Philharmonic Orchestra is the next level up from Beginning Orchestra with emphasis placed on the development of tone, intonation, and solid playing techniques.   More
practice and rehearsals become necessary as students are introduced to
more diverse and challenging string orchestral music.ÂAdvanced techniques bowing and left-hand techniques necessary for the succession to Advanced Orchestra are introduced and developed.  Â
Symphony Orchestra is the highest level of string performance at Spring Forest MS.  Emphasis is placed on the preparation and rehearsing of more complex music for group and solo competitions as well as various public performances. There is the continued development and refinement of playing skills.  Students must display, good intonation, tone, musical maturity, and techniques on a consistent basis, and prepare and rehearse at a higher level.  Advanced Orchestra students display a positive attitude toward the strings program, and a willingness to cooperate with the directors and all students involved in the program                                                                             Â
