Winter Choir Concert
Thursday, October 8th at 7:00pm
Singers: arrive at 6:30pm
(6th grade report to M105, 7th and 8th to M102)
What to Wear:
choir uniform shirt, long khaki pants and a neutral belt
Tenor Bass: Black Pants, Black Shoes, Black Socks, White t-shirt
Advanced Treble: Stockings, closed toe black dress shoes, hair in a bun!
Choir Supplies:
1inch black 3-ring binder, paper, pencils, highlighters.
Each student is also asked to donate one box of tissue.
Choir Performance Shirts (required) are $8. (Worn with Khaki Uniform Pants and a Neutral Colored Belt!)
Choir Spirit Shirts (optional) are $10.

FYI: The poll by Harris Interactive, an independent research company, showed that 88 percent of people with a post-graduate education were involved in music while in school, and 83 percent of people earning $150,000 or more had a music education.
At Spring Forest there are four different choirs.
Each choir adds a special element to the program.

Advanced/ Varsity Choir
|
This choir is an auditioned advanced group for 7th and 8th grade ladies. This choir will work and compete at the Varsity level. This choir will perform on all concerts, in the community, and will compete at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Competition in the spring. This choir meets during the day as well as by section for after school rehearsal. These sectionals (Tuesday for Sopranos and Wednesday for Altos from 3:30 – 4:20) are required and count for a grade. Members of this choir will be required to audition for All-Region Choir and/or Solo and Ensemble Competition (see calendar). Students in this choir are expected to remain eligible and out of disciplinary trouble at all times. Students not able to maintain this standard may be removed from the choir at the director’s discretion. If your progress report says "needs to attend tutorials" it means that the student needs to attend sectionals. Formal Uniform Requirements: Black Stockings/Hose/Knee-Highs, Black Closed-Toe Dress Shoes, Hair in a tight, neat pony-tail.

Treble Choir
|
This choir is open to all 7th and 8th grade ladies. This choir will perform on all concerts, and is open to beginning or slightly experienced singers. This choir will work at the Non-Varsity level. Members of this choir will be strongly encouraged to audition for All-Region Choir and/or Solo and Ensemble Competition.

Tenor-Bass/ Men's Choir
|
This choir is for all gentlemen, grades 7-8. This choir will perform on all concerts. Members of this choir will be strongly encouraged to audition for All-Region Choir and/or Solo and Ensemble Competition. Furthermore, selected men will participate in UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest in the Spring. Formal Uniform Requirements: Black Pants, Black Socks, Black Dress Shoes.

Sixth-Grade Mixed Choir
|
This choir is for all 6th graders. The 6th Grade Choir will perform on four concerts this year, be given opportunities to participate in Solo and Ensemble, and compete in the Katy Choral Festival.

Director: Katy Cuddihee
Ms. Cuddihee has taught for eight years in both Alief and Spring Branch. She has a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Music in Education with an emphasis in voice from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. She is a member of TMEA, TCDA, and TMAA. She is trained in Orff Schulwerk and Music Together. She also sings, rings handbells, and directs children’s choirs locally. Ms. Cuddihee also serves as the Fine Arts Department Chair at Spring Forest.
Director: Julie Fahey
Miss Fahey holds a Bachelor of Music in Commercial Voice Performance with an emphasis in Music Business from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. She taught private voice lessons in Kingwood, TX for three years while also working in the corporate world. She then earned her Teaching Certification and began teaching elementary music in Spring Branch ISD. She is trained in Kodaly, Orff Schulwerk and earned her Education Through Music (ETM) certification. She is a member of Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA). This year will be Miss Fahey’s second year of teaching in Spring Branch ISD. In addition, she sings in a local ensemble and enjoys working on the craft of songwriting.
